Money matters. That’s why, from a relatively young age, we’re taught to create a budget and stick to it.
For a lot of people, that budget doesn’t include dream purchases, like a new car, the latest gadget, a new designer jacket, a trip to the spa, or even orthodontic treatment.
Orthodontic treatment is a pipe dream for many because it doesn’t fit in the budget. Or, at least, that’s how it used to work. Traditional orthodontic methods, like braces and Invisalign, can be too pricey for some budgets. In some cases, braces can set you back as much as $8,000 (sometimes more!).
But today, those aren’t the only options. At-home clear aligners leverage technology similar to Invisalign to bring you orthodontic treatment from the comfort of your own home. Since there are hardly any overhead costs for at-home clear aligners, the price point hovers around $1,899 to $2,825.
At-home aligner companies also offer financing options to split that cost into manageable monthly payments. Between affordability and the sheer convenience of home-based treatment, at-home clear aligners are shaking up the orthodontia industry. And Byte is one of our favorites.
About Byte
Byte is our top-ranked at-home clear aligner company. We love them for a lot of reasons: they offer great value (more on this in a moment), they’re the fastest treatment option, they offer a Byte-for-Life guarantee, and they offer a nighttime treatment option.
Between their treatment speed and their nighttime treatments, Byte is a highly convenient option. On average, Byte users usually only need to wear their aligners for just 3-4 months (or 5-6 for nighttime-only treatment). Byte’s nighttime treatment (called Byte At-Night) also allows customers to wear their aligners for just 10 hours per night instead of 22. For many busy adults, that’s a huge plus.
One of our favorite features is Byte’s lifetime guarantee. If your teeth ever shift post-treatment, Byte will send you new aligners to bring your smile back to perfection.
Our Byte Discount – What It Covers
Who doesn’t love to score a deal? You do, and we’ve got you covered. Let’s talk about Byte’s discounts.
Currently, the best discount for Byte is an exclusive code for our readers. You’ll score 70% off your impression kit and $100 off your aligners, reducing your impression kit cost from $95 to just $29.95.
If you submit your impressions and Byte’s orthodontists determine you’re a good candidate, you’ll receive the $100 discount when you purchase your treatment plan. If you pay it all in one go, the discount will be applied immediately. Promotional codes cannot be applied to BytePay plans.
Any other discounts?
The discount above is probably the best year-round discount that everyone can get. That said, if you’re part of certain groups (students, for example), get a referral, or you’re willing to be patient, you might be able to score a different deal.
Student discounts
Byte knows that budgets are tight when you’re a student (thank you, hefty school bills). But they don’t want your school bills to get in the way of your treatment, so they offer discounts. To take advantage of it, email student@byteme.com. They’ll give you detailed instructions on how to cash in on this deal.
Referral codes
Know someone who’s used Byte? Ask them to refer you to Byte, and you’ll score $100 off your aligners. Plus, they’ll get a $100 Amazon gift card when you make your purchase. Then once you’ve joined, you can do the same for your buddies!
Seasonal discounts
For simplicity’s sake, we’re not going to list every single discount we’ve ever seen for Byte. But somewhat regularly, they’ll run seasonal discounts. You have to watch their homepage, though: these discounts come and go pretty quickly. discounts. So if you’re waiting for one, you’ll have to be patient; they come up from time to time.
For example, we’ve seen Byte run seasonal deals that give you a cheap impression kit and a substantial amount off your aligners—giving you $250 off your total treatment. But deals like that don’t last long, so you’ll have to jump on them when you find them.
If you’re taking a wait-and-see approach for a seasonal deal, keep your eye out around major holidays. You can also subscribe to Byte’s email list to be alerted to deals.
Byte Pricing
Byte lists their base price at $2,749 for daytime treatment and $3,399 for Byte At-Night, but the above discounts could take it as low as $2,584-$3,234. Byte is one of the more expensive options in Australia (even though we think it’s still a competitive value because of what they include in their treatment kit). Some of Australia’s other options range between $1,899 and $2,825.
Byte also offers financing called BytePay. And since there’s no credit check, financing is available to everyone. As long as you can make the $249 down payment, you’ll be eligible for a $114 per month payment plan (plus an account setup and maintenance fee). The terms for Byte At-Night look a touch different.
Byte includes a fair bit of value for that price, too. Here’s what your $2,749 (or $3,399) will get you:
- All aligners in your treatment plan
- A bottle of BrightByte, the whitening system
- Your first set of post-treatment retainers
- The HyperByte device
What makes Byte’s treatment bundle such a good value? Their HyperByte device. If you bought it separately, you’d have to shell out nearly $999, but it’s included in your kit. (Orthodontists sometimes sell a similar device for over $1,000). HyperByte speeds up your treatment, so it’s a must-have if you choose Byte for their treatment speed.
The included post-treatment retainers will save you money too since other companies charge an extra $150 for them after you’re finished with your aligners. You’ll eventually need to replace them for $169 (they wear out over time), but wearing retainers will protect the investment you’ve made in your smile.
One last deal: the Byte Protection Plan ($899-$999)
Okay, so technically speaking, the Byte Protection Plan isn’t a discount in the strict sense of the term. But it will save you money in the long run, so we figured it was worth mentioning here. Byte recently launched this program. The goal? To help you protect your investment in your smile.
Here’s what the BPP includes:
- Five years’ worth of post-treatment retainers for free (bought separately, these cost $169 a set)
- Free replacements for lost or stolen aligners during treatment (up to a $2,000 value)
How much it costs depends on whether you use Byte All-Day or Byte At-Night (the At-Night aligners cost more to protect). But the retainer program alone is worth the money. Over five years, you’d need ten retainers. Byte gives you the first set, but the other nine would run you $1,521. Long story short, the BPP saves you close to 50% on just retainers.
Learn More About Byte
Curious about Byte? You can check out our full review here, where we cover important factors such as company track record, treatment speed, customer reviews, treatment designers, and much more. It’s worth a look if you’re leaning towards Byte.
All told, Byte is a great option for those who want to balance a speedy treatment option with a competitive value. In fact, Byte is our favorite at-home aligner service.
However, we don’t want to rush you in your decision. You need to pick what works best for you, and there are a few other options worth considering. SmilePath, EZ Smile, and WonderSmile are three of the most popular alternatives to Byte. Here’s a flyby of how Byte compares:
- Byte vs SmilePath: Byte is a fantastic value, but their price point is not the cheapest. If you need a super budget-friendly option, then you should look into SmilePath. Their sticker price comes in at just $1,899. They may not offer any free extras like whitening, but since they’re hundreds cheaper than other competitors, it balances out.
- Byte vs EZ Smile: EZ Smile is the second most affordable Australian aligner company. Between an easy start-up process, a fair value, and the most flexible financing options on the entire market, they’re a great bet if you want a manageable payment plan.
- Byte vs WonderSmile: “Flexibility” isn’t the name of the game with most clear aligners. Byte helps a bit with nighttime treatment, but they don’t have the same flexibility as WonderSmile. With WonderSmile, you can choose between nighttime and daytime treatment, and some patients are candidates for single arch treatment.
Conclusion
Byte is a fantastic option for home aligners, so if you’re drawn to them, go for it. They’re our favorite service. They give speedy treatment, an overall good value, and they stand behind their product with their Byte-For-Life guarantee. Those factors together provide a lot of peace of mind about the future of your smile.
Byte’s $2,749 sticker price may seem like a lot, but it’s thousands cheaper than both braces and Invisalign. And thanks to this discount, you’ll score $150 off.
